Initial ideas.

Initial ideas.

I have been starting to think of the different routes my project could take under this brief. I want to push the boundaries as much as possible while still creating a beauty photograph that fits with the brief and what was asked.

My first idea was to maybe produce a male beauty shoot rather than female. My inspiration for this came from this shoot i found online of Frank Ocean, who is a musician. These photographs were shot for an article in Oyster Magazine by Frank's friend and music video director, Nabil. The photographs are in very high contrast but are still detailed. The images have a sort of unconventional innocence about them and i think the reflect the essence of Frank in the same way that his music does. That is what I intend to capture on my shoot. To be able to do this i think i will have to photograph someone that i know quite well as this would allow me to become more involved in the shoot, they would feel more comfortable and then i would be able to produce more relaxed images with more emotion and get the result that i want from the pictures.

My next idea was to create a simple beauty shot with a model that has quite large features such as the singer and actress Zendaya. I am starting to like the idea of having scraped back hair or slicked back as i feel its quite a modern way to add an interesting aspect to the composition of my images.

Within the head shots i would like to create some varied and dynamic poses or maybe something on the face that isn't makeup but adds a texture to the face and upper body such as water droplets or paint. I am still undecided as to how close up to the face i should go in my photoshoot but hopefully when i come to taking some test shots I can get an idea of where my project is headed and how i can achieve the desired images.
