Things to bring to a photoshoot:
- Hot shoe adaptor - sits on top of the camera, connects to sync lead which sets the flash on the lighting to go off at the same time as the flash on the camera.
- SD card - holds camera pictures until you can transfer them onto a computer.
- USB stick - holds photos for longer periods of time but shouldn't be left as the corrupt easily.
- Portable harddrive to store images.
Health and safety basics:
- Keep cables around set tidy to insure people do not trip and hurt themselves.
- Don't touch flash tubes, fingerprints can be left on the tube and can effect pictures.
- Make sure lighting stands are tightened and secure as to not fall on anyone.
- Turn everything off when out of use.
- Don't leave covers on lights when lights are on, can cause fires and melt the covers.
- Don't touch bulbs after photography shoot, bulbs become extremely hot extremely quickly.
- No food or drinks in the studios.
Basic Studio Tips:
- Hiring out a tripod from the hatch can make your life much easier as you can make your pictures have more continuity in height and angle.
- Get someone else to hold the reflector.
- If there is a MAC or PC on set to view the images make sure it is turned away from the model so they do not feel self conscious if the pictures are not up to scratch.
